Dawn Nelson

Dawn Marie Nelson, age 43, of Hudson, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, June 13, 2011. She was born the daughter of Gordon L. and Sally M. (Thompson) Nelson on November 6, 1967 in Harvard, IL. She grew up in Sharon, WI, and was a 1985 Walworth High School. In 1987, Dawn was united in marriage to Thom Peterson. They were blessed with a son, Nathan.

Dawn worked as a retail manager for Kohl’s department stores, then a district manager for Children’s Place, and just this past week had started a new management position with The Body Shop. When she wasn’t traveling for work, Dawn enjoyed biking with her son and being a member of the YMCA. She would help anyone who needed it. In Hudson, she was a well known volunteer with Relay for Life. Dawn’s giving spirit will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Nathan Peterson of Hudson; parents, Gordon and Sally Nelson of Tomahawk, WI; brother, Troy (Robbie) Nelson and their family, Jordan, Kyle and Rick, of Sharon, WI; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dawn’s funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 20th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St, Hudson, 715-386-3725. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
