Dean Mack Deyo, age 60, of Hudson, WI, formerly of Browns Valley, MN, passed away on January 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle with cancer.

Dean was born on March 7, 1962, to parents Lester and Betty (Person) Deyo. He graduated from Browns Valley High School in 1980 after which he started his lifelong career in the construction industry. Dean remained in the Browns Valley area for several years, raising his family and spending time with family and friends. Dean was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his time operating Valley Sporting Goods, sponsoring fishing tournaments and talking with local sportsman about the “one that got away”. He was involved in many community events and was a member of the Browns Valley City Council. Dean also continued his love of basketball playing on intermural basketball teams and coaching grade school basketball.

In 1994 Dean moved his family to Buffalo MN to further his career in the construction industry. Over the next several years Dean spent time working between Florida and Minnesota, eventually settling in the Twin Cities area to be closer to family. Over his 40 years in the construction field Dean made many lifelong friendships that he cherished dearly.

In 2015 Dean married Carrie DeLisi. They made their home in Florida for the next few years and moved to Hudson, WI in 2017. Dean and Carrie shared a love of music, attending many concerts especially his favorite artists like Kid Rock and Aaron Lewis. They purchased a lake place and Dean loved his peaceful days spent there with Carrie and their dog RJ. Dean shared a special bond with RJ and they were truly best friends.

Dean would tell you his most cherished accomplishment was his time spent as a Grandpa. Dean was fortunate to be able to watch his grandkids grow, being present at many events and activities. They were his pride and joy!

Dean was a long time Vikings fan, his favorite place to watch the big game (until he got frustrated and HAD to turn it off) was on his couch with his dog RJ.

Dean enjoyed working with a laser engraver over the last few years with which he made many elaborate gifts for family and friends.

He remains in the hearts of his wife Carrie; children Trevor (Emily) Deyo, Traci (Judd) Alton, Avery Fedders, and stepson Drew Bryant; grandchildren Cayden, Kylie, Carter, Lily, Lanie, Tyler, Jack, and Forest; sister Cathie Kallstrom and brother Don (Sylvie) Deyo. Dean is preceded in death by his parents; brother V. Robert “Skipper” Deyo and brother-in-law Erv Kallstrom.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Saint Croix Event Center in Oak Park Heights, MN from 1-5pm with a service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.

  1. it seems like we should still be young – with only – will we get in before the streetlights go on? who gets to sit in the “big peoples’ swing? can we play in the bus? Oh my friend, how I miss those days. I look forward to when we meet again, Dear Friend.
