Deborah C. Wekkin

Deborah Christina (Bushek) Wekkin age 63, left this world peacefully on September 26, 2018 with family by her side. Debbie had courageously battled breast cancer for seven years. Despite her struggles, she was up-beat and positive, full of life until her final days.

Deborah was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin on March 22, 1955 to Clarence and Mina Bushek, the 8th oldest of thirteen children. For many years Debbie worked as an Administrative Assistant, first for Better Homes and Gardens in Minneapolis and later for Phillips Plastics in New Richmond. Some of her greatest pleasures were traveling to family gatherings and weddings for her nieces and nephews to Germany, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and southern Wisconsin. She enjoyed dinners out with her family, spending time on Horseshoe Lake, loved movies and reading, and almost never missed a birthday party for her great-nieces and great-nephews. Debbie enjoyed attending weekly Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. Her greatest joy, were the many weekends over the past 13 years she spent with the light of her life, her granddaughter Hailey.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, two brothers; Anthony and Clarence Bushek, and her beloved niece Erin Bushek. She is survived by her son Andrew Wekkin, grand-daughter Hailey Wekkin, step-grandson Andrew Ksobiech, the children’s mom Rose Ksobiech, her brothers and sisters; Paul (Mary) Bushek, Pam (Daryl) Sather, Patrick (Charlene) Bushek, John (Sharon DeGideo) Bushek, Rodney (Lenore Schueler) Bushek, Betty (Michael) Brueske, Daniel (Lori) Bushek, Mark (Mary) Bushek, Michelle Ganrude, and Jeffrey (Jane) Bushek, Laura Bushek, along with many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her family would like to thank the Oncology staff at Hudson Specialty Clinic, who supported her quality of life with their wonderful care and skill, and the staff of angels from Lakeview Hospice, who lovingly eased Debbie’s transition to eternity in the arms of her Savior.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on October 3 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson, with Father John Gerritts officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery on “The Ridge” near La Crosse, Wisconsin.
