Debra Lynn Rasmussen, age 64, of Baldwin passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, December 30, 2018, surrounded by her family & beloved dogs after living with breast cancer for 15 years. Deb was born March 30, 1954 to Michael & Evelyn Furyk in Ironwood, MI. She was the oldest of seven children. Her family moved to Streamwood, IL & then to Rhinelander, WI, where she graduated from high school. Deb then attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. While in college, she met her husband Dane & together they would have a son, Tom, & a daughter, Kris. Deb loved working as an oncology nurse for the University of Minnesota Hospital for many years, with both adult & pediatric patients. She enjoyed making connections with the patients & their families. Her attention to detail & compassion helped her excel in her role as a bedside nurse, staff educator, & assistant nurse manager. After an early retirement from nursing, she went on to help out at the family business, Rasmussen Village Pharmacy. Throughout her life, she was heavily involved in the community on various boards & committees, including serving many years on the BW School Board, The Community Preschool Board, The St. Croix County Health & Human Services Board, Community Education, The Family Resource Center Board, Greenfield Mentorship Program, & The Wisconsin Pharmacist Association Auxiliary. She treasured being an active part of the community & advocating for children. Deb enjoyed spending her Wednesday nights with her women’s bowling league. In her free time, she enjoyed reading a good book or relaxing in front of the TV, especially if watching football or college basketball. While she loved being home, she also enjoyed traveling; whether up North to the family cabin on Lake Superior, on family trips to Florida & Hawaii, or getaways with Dane to Vegas & Europe. However, more then anything, she loved caring for her husband & children, including her four-legged ones.

Debra will remain in the hearts of her loving husband of 42 years, Dane; children, Tom & Kris Rasmussen; beloved dogs, Reggie, Charlie, & Cooper; siblings, Sharon Dimmick, Karen Furyk, Denise (Jim) Moore, Mike Furyk, Barb (Dan) Schulz, & Walt Furyk; & in-laws, Nancy Fox, Lynne (Nick) VanDeelen, & Jack (Becky) Rasmussen; as well as many nieces, nephews & extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service for Deb will be held at 11AM Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church of Baldwin with a visitation one-hour prior. A Visitation will be held the evening before, on Wednesday, January 2nd, from 4PM to 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin. Memorials preferred to The Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin.
