Delbert Leroy Singerhouse, age 83 of New Richmond, passed away October 11, 2012 at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN. Delbert was born July 28, 1929 in Menomonie, WI; the son of Paul and Pearl (Drury) Singerhouse. Del attended New Richmond High School, the class of 1946. Delbert was united in marriage on January 16, 1951 in New Richmond to Bernie Helen Cook. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Rick, Cindy and Gina. Del proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked hard throughout his life on their dairy farm, milking cows and tending the land. He cherished his time with his family and took great pride cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. In their earlier years, Delbert and Bernie enjoyed traveling. He also enjoyed being active with trips to the local casinos and the dog track. Delbert and Bernie extended their family by opening their hearts and home to provide loving and caring for over 750 foster children.
He is survived by his wife, Bernie; children, Rick (Heidi) Singerhouse of New Jersey, Cindy (Roy) DeGidio of Fridley, and Gina (Jack) Rosenquist of Baldwin; grandchildren, Andy, Abby and Charlie Singerhouse; siblings, Geneva Peterson, Paul (Betty) Singerhouse, Kenneth (Karen) Singerhouse, and Virginia (Murray) Brendmihl; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Singerhouse and Shirley Singerhouse. Delbert is preceded in death by brothers, Otto, Frances and Lloyd; sisters, Lucille (Joseph) Mullen, Helen (Leon) Whisler, Genevieve (Ralph) Jackelen, brother-in-law William Peterson, and sister-in-law Darlene Singerhouse.
Funeral services for Delbert will be held 11:30 AM Monday, October 15, 2012 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 505 13th St., Hudson, with Pastor Brian Ferguson officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the service at church. Interment will take place at the New Richmond Cemetery with Andy and Charlie Singerhouse (Grand Children), Doug Hinz (Nephew), Terry Singerhouse (Nephew), Michael and Gary Brown (Foster Children), serving as pallbearers.
