Delores Jean Worrell

Delores Jean (Johnson) Worrell, age 95 of Hudson, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family October 12, 2023.

Delores was born on September 28, 1928, in Hudson. She was the daughter of Elon and Anna (Kukuska) Johnson. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1946, and worked at West Publishing in St. Paul for more than 42 years as a bookkeeper, a job she loved.

Delores was humble, selfless and took great pride in her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, concerts in the park, Tuesday coffee with the ladies, and was an avid bowler for over 43 years.

Delores is survived by her children Kelly (Jim) Gillis, Julie (Tom) Widgren, Jane Worrell, Linda (Randy) Rice; grandchildren Nicholas Gillis, Jennifer (Matt) Clancy, Matthew (Juliane) Widgren, Jacob (Marisa) Widgren, Kaylene Widgren, Sara (Tyler) Olson, Emily Worrell, Rebecca (Jake) Haegele, Adam Rice; nine great-grandchildren; sister Helen Houman and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard; son Stephen O’Brien; parents Elon and Anna; sister Ethel Jones and brother Robert Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.  Visitation will take place one hour prior. Burial at Willow River Cemetery.

Funeral services entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.

  1. Delores treated me like one of her own children, even though I was just a friend. She gave the most amazing hugs and I will never forget them. We shared the same love for animals and I have such good memories of doing puzzles, having dinner and coloring as my nieces grew up.

    My heart goes out to this amazing family that I am so blessed to have been able to get to know. I love you all so much and may your memories comfort and guide you. Rest in peace Delores.
