Delores V. Ruckle age 92 of River Falls died peacefully November 8, 2021 at her daughter’s home as she was surrounded by those who loved her. Delores was born on March 6, 1929 in Red Wing, Minnesota; the daughter of Albin and Myrtle (Olson) Gustafson. She graduated from Ellsworth High School.  As a young lady, she worked as a secretary for General Mills and later for the Pierce County courthouse. On May 6, 1950, she would walk down the aisle with the love of her life Harold Ruckle at Bethel Covenant Church in Moeville, Wisconsin. From this union, three children were born.

Delores was a proud homemaker who loved her family. Her baking skills were vastly appreciated as the cookie jar was rarely empty. She found peace in quilting as all of the grandchildren received a quilt that she made. She enjoyed a quiet afternoon reading a biography or working on a jigsaw or crossword puzzle. She loved word games. In fact, she enjoyed her check-ins with the kids through her iPad app Words with Friends.

Delores will fondly be remembered by her children, Mark Ruckle of River Falls, Julie (Robert) Ashbaugh of Eau Claire, Gail Ruckle of Florida; grandchildren Rachel (Mike) Brunetto, Krisan Ashbaugh, Jarek Ruckle Kwiatkowski; great grandchildren Zach and Elsie Brunetto; sister Jean (Mike) McCusker of Coon Rapids; and brother-in-law Perry Melstrom of Ellsworth. Her husband Harold and two sisters Dorene Melstrom and Marjorie Meacham precede her in death.

A time for friends and family to gather to celebrate Delores’s life will be from 10am to 12pm (noon), Friday, November 12, 2021 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in River Falls. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls with her family acting as casket bearers. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls.
