She attended four different country grade schools and Ellsworth High School, where she was a 1957 graduate. While working at the Ellsworth Creamery, a friend and milk hauler set up a blind date with John Larson. One year, one month and one day later, on June 11, 1960 she would marry the love of her life at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Clayfield, in rural Ellsworth. This union blessed them with three sons, Steve, Bob and Randy.
Above all else, Della was a faithful, devout Christian, dedicated to her beloved St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City. She enjoyed baking cakes, cookies and desserts for meetings bake sales and the church carnival, even up to last summer. Every room in her house was adorned with holy pictures and angel statues.
She was passionate about her family, and loved each and every one of them fiercely. She dedicated much prayer time to asking God to watch over and protect the ones she loved, whether they were family, friends, or neighbors.
Della was an active mom, grandma and great grandma. She attended as many school events, concerts, sporting and Special Olympics events, church services, as she was able to. She was an avid collector of antiques, proudly displaying her vast collection of R.S. Prussia dishes, carnival glass, porcelain dolls, Victorian furniture and family heirlooms.
Her love of cooking and baking brought her to making thousands of cookies, buns, cinnamon rolls, bars, pies and the list goes on and on. She cooked countless family meals for holidays and birthdays, and anyone who came to visit, and made sure no one ever went away hungry. She loved trying out new recipes to share with the other election officials where she worked with them at the Maiden Rock Town Hall for over 35 years.
She was a homemaker for the majority of her life. Della also had a fondness for traveling. She loved long and short road trips (to Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Florida, Mapleton, MN, and Yellowstone just to name a few) and cruised the Caribbean with family four times. She became very fond of retail therapy enjoying store, internet and thrift stores mostly.
