Denise Louise Maier, age 67, of River Falls, WI passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at her residence after a short illness. She was born on December 22, 1949 in River Falls to Earl and Marijane (Lyksett) Cernohous. On May 9, 1970 she was united in marriage to Norman J. Maier.

Denise was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband Norman and often times with friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marijane Cernohous; sister-in-law, Barb Cernohous; nephew, Benjamin Dado.

Denise is lovingly survived by her husband of 46 years, Norman of River Falls; children, Angela (Kevin) Van Voorst of Newport, MN, Craig (Tonya) Maier of Spring Valley, WI, Jennifer (Bryan) Pierson of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Amber, Joseph and Kayla Van Voorst, Zachary, Madison and Charlie Maier, Jacob and Nicholas Pierson; she is further survived by her siblings, Diane (Michael) Dado of River Falls, Peter (Bonnie) Cernohous of Oshkosh, WI, Dean (Carrie) Cernohous of River Falls, David (Sherri) Cernohous of River Falls, John (Vicki) Cernohous of River Falls, Andy (Janice) Cernohous of River Falls; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 pm Monday, January 16th at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls with visitation from 1:00-3:00 pm. Private interment will be at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery in River Falls at a later date.
