Dennis Jay Peterson, age 64, passed away on August 6 at the Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Dennis was born on January 13, 1953, the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Fern) Peterson in New Richmond, WI. He graduated from St. Croix Central High School and went on to the District One Technology Institute in Eau Claire to receive his Associates degree in Accounting in 1974. Dennis became an accountant and worked for the St. Croix County Government Center for thirty-five years. Throughout his work he became connected with many individuals in the county, and established lasting friendships from his career.

Dennis was well-connected with others and had a humble and gracious demeanor. Thoughtful in his ways, he would often go out of his way to check in on neighbors and say hello. He brought much joy and laughter to those around him. Dennis was a true outdoorsman; he thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by nature and was at peace whenever he was hunting, fishing, or simply absorbing the sights and sounds of the wilderness. Dennis had a profound appreciation for photography; he was able to capture his love for the outdoors with vivid pictures of wildlife and scenery.

Dennis will remain in the hearts of his sisters, Debbie Peterson of Roberts, WI, Cheryl Moe (Rocky) of Baldwin, WI, and Barbara Martinson of Ocala, FL; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, former coworkers and countless friends. A special thank you to uncle Kenny and aunt Mary and their family, as well as Jeff and Sherri Lewis, and the entire Lewis family for their loving care and support of Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Dorothy Peterson.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 4-7 on Thursday, August 10, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, WI, as well as one hour prior to the service at church. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11, at the Roberts Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 Birch Dr., Roberts. Interment to be held at Warren Cemetery in Roberts.
