Dennis Sellers

Dennis Michael Sellers, age 79 of Ellsworth, formerly of Cottage Grove, MN., died peacefully March 3rd, 2022 at his residence with his family by his side. Dennis was born on February 5, 1943 in Hamilton, Ohio; the son of Harold and Dorothy (Heflin) Sellers. Dennis graduated from high school in Georgia. Following this, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had the ultimate privilege during this time as he served on the Honor Guard at President John Kennedy’s funeral. He also participated in the Air Force’s Project Blue Book, which was the systematic study of unidentified flying objects. For a short time, he became a California Highway patrolman. It did not take long for him to know this was not his future. He would return to school graduating from Concordia College in the Twin Cities where he received his bachelor’s degree in theology. On May 8, 1976, he was united in marriage to Deborah Karp at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove. His career would take a different path than what he was planning. He loved people. He took a position in sales with Drummond American, an industrial chemical manufacturer.   He loved calling on customers and the friendships he created through his work was good for his soul. He loved making relationships.  He also enjoyed a quiet day at home with Deborah laughing at the contestants on Fear Factor or more recently Wipeout. A good football game, as it did not matter who was playing, was always enjoyable. Especially if he was able to do some grilling at the same time.

Dennis will fondly be remembered by his wife Deborah; children Melissa (Jason) Martinez of Oakdale, MN., Bobbi Jo Coomer of Cottage Grove, MN., Michelle (John) Singer of St. Paul Park, MN.; grandchildren Andrew, Joey, Sam, Gabby, Jenna, Aubrie, Jacob, Michael; siblings-in-law Todd (Laurie) Karp of Circle Pines, MN., Terry Karp of Brainard, MN., andTom Karp of Kerrick, MN.
