Dolores G. Persells, age 84 of Gordon WI and formerly of North Hudson WI, died on June 28, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth MN. Dolores was born November 16, 1926 in Prescott WI, the only child of parents William and Gertrude (Schaar) Polenske. Dolores was a graduate of Hastings High School. On June 17, 1961, Dolores would be united in marriage to Leland L. Persells. Though they had no children of their own, their marriage was blessed with family, extended family, and fifty years of love and devotion to each other.

Though she worked outside the home for a while, Dolores considered herself a homemaker. Home is where she could be found tending to her beautiful flower gardens, cooking up amazing meals in the kitchen, and creating and organizing photo albums for herself and family. Dolores also loved to travel, and with Leland by her side, she traveled to all of the lower 48 states, Alaska and Canada. Home or away, Dolores was known to be pretty skilled at fishing. She also enjoyed frequenting car shows and parades with Leland back when they had their many old cars, which included a 1931 Chevrolet, a 1931 Model A, and their 1965 Buick.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Leland; her brother-in-law, Dwaine (Mary) Persells; her sister-in-law, Karen (David) Linehan; as well as her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Bill & Gertrude; brother-in-law, Dale Persells; and nephew Larry Persells.

Funeral Services for Dolores Persells will be held at 12:00 NOON on Thursday, June 30th at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 South 11th Street, in Hudson, with Pastor Tim Booth officiating. Special music will be provided by Kerry Marsh. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Dolores will be laid to rest in the Houlton Cemetery, with Jeremy Persells, Katie Persells, Jeffrey Persells, David Persells, and Dennis Persells serving as casketbearers.
