Dolores Sears

Dolores “Mama D” Gloria Sears, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her home in River Falls, WI. Dolores was born on July 21, 1948 in St. Paul, MN . She was the first born child of Charles and Esther Gilbert.

Dolores grew up in St. Paul, MN. She was a graduate of Mahtomedi High School in Mahtomedi, MN. She married Jerome “Jere” Sears on December 10, 1975 in St. Paul, MN . Dolores worked for Northern States Power (NSP) for many years. She eventually moved to River Falls, WI to be close to family. She worked for UW-RF, River Falls Taxi, and spent time volunteering at Second Chances.

She had an affinity and appreciation for Asian culture and art. Many of her decorations in her home were Asian inspired. She loved and enjoyed the dogs she had previously in her life, Jocko and Gilbert. Dolores’ nickname, Mama D, fit her personality extremely well. She truly was a nurturing and loving mother at heart, not only to her son, Zeb, but to all of her family members and friends. Her many phone calls to her loved ones will be greatly missed.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther Gilbert; and husband, Jere Sears. She is survived by her son, Zebulon (Angie) Sears; siblings, Janice Lundt, Cathy Ekstrand, Claudia McLemore, Michelle (Wylie) Garrett, Teresa Gilbert, Barb Connell, Charles Gilbert, Mary Tesdahl, Mark (Michelle) Gilbert, and Robert (Bobbie) Gilbert; eleven nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at O’Connell Family Funeral Home (225 South 3rd Street, River Falls, WI). Mass of Christian Faith will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Bridget Catholic Church (211 E Division Street, River Falls, WI) with a visitation starting at 10:00am.
