Donald Alwin

Donald Leroy Alwin, age 84 of River Falls, died on May 6, 2022 at Comforts of Home of River Falls. Donald was born to Allen and Ruth (Heisley) Alwin on October 8, 1937 in Centuria, Wisconsin.

Donald was quite literally a jack-of-all-trades. He for many years owned and operated over 5 different service stations in Hudson and North Hudson and an Arctic Cat snowmobile dealership. He also owned Alwin Excavating until his retirement. In his younger years, Donald would run dirt track racecars in the St. Croix County area.  He was extremely mechanically inclined and could diagnose and fix anything you put in front of him. Donnie also was very fond of spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his children, Rick Alwin, Terry Alwin and John Alwin, grandchildren: Richard (Caramia) Appleton, Jessi (Chris Barker) Weeks, Justin (Jessica) Weeks, Jamie Weeks-Hansbarger, and Jason Alwin; great grandchildren: Payton, Makenzie, Mylie, Tyler, Tiffany, Trevor, Noah, Zoe, Grace and Joy; siblings: Duane (Judy) Alwin, Deryl (Lorraine) Alwin and Dwight (Shirley) Alwin; along with many treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father Allen Alwin and his mother Ruth Schaar, sister Della (Myron) Parent, and grandson Alan Alwin.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services: 225 South 3rd Street, River Falls, WI 54022. A Celebration of Life will follow from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Hoffman Park: 547 Hanson Dr, River Falls, WI.
