Donald Debler

Donald C. Debler, age 70 of Hammond WI, died surrounded by the love of his family and friends on September 13, 2013, after enduring a 4 year battle with colorectal cancer. Don was born October 26, 1942 in Iowa City, IA to parents Alfred and Mina (Hall) Debler. Don graduated from Mid Prairie Community School of Wellman, IA with the Class of 1961. He served as a medic in the Army Reserves from 1966-1971. Don would be united in marriage to Vicki Lynn Willert on November 18, 1989 at the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton, IL.

Don worked as a Mechanic Journeyman with the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, Local 81, retiring from the trade in 1994. Outside of work, Don loved to golf, and enjoyed time spent on the golf course, working on his game. Don also enjoyed fishing, bowling, and hunting. He cherished time spent with his grandkids, and going to the lake with family and friends alike. He will truly be missed by many.

Don is survived by his wife, Vicki; his son, Tad (Katy) Debler; daughter, Toni Debler; nine grandchildren; step-sons, Monty Cassellius and Kelsey (Diane) Cassellius; sister, Karen (Steve) Smith; mother-in-law, Vergal Willert; brothers-in-law, Al Willert, and Craig (Diane) Willert; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Jon) Simpson, Twyla (Jim) Bakken, Cindy (eric) Caple, and Dawn (Dennis) Handlos; special people in Don’s life, Leo “Chub” (Martha) Hall, Jon and Jen Willert, and Tim Laberdie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow golfers, and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mina; and his father-in-law, Alvin Willert.

A Celebration of Life and Birthday for Don Debler will be held from 1:00-5:00pm on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Glen Hills Golf Course, 3127 Campground Lane, Glenwood City, WI 54013.
