Donald “Don” Gerhardt

Donald “Don” Gerhardt, age 67 of Roberts, passed away on July 3, 2017 at his home.

Don was born to Arthur and Loretta Gerhardt on July 13, 1949 in New Prague, MN. He attended St. Croix Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1967. Don’s life was blessed with two sons, Scott and Brian. He was united in marriage to Vicki Porter on July 25, 1992, they share 25 years together. Don was a Truck Driver and most recently worked for Abrams Metals until his retirement.

Don was a loving husband, proud father, and an exceptionally good friend. He was known as a storyteller, sharing with anyone he met a great story. Don was devoted to his Roberts community by being on the Board of Trustees, the Library Board and the Roberts-Warren Fire Association. In his spare time, he loved to the be out on the road driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle or using his hands in woodworking projects. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling with his wife and sons. Don and Vicki shared 17 summers camping at the Eastside Campground in Birchwood. He was a fantastic cook, being well known for his top notch grilling skills. Don had a way of making everyone he met feel welcomed with open arms and a warm smile.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki; sons, Scott (Judy) Gerhardt of Roberts and Brian (Christine) Gerhardt of Hudson; grandchildren, Tyler, Bridgit and Rachel; siblings, Judy Post (Lyle Nippoldt), Vern (Sherry Walker) Gerhardt, Al (Luanne) Gerhardt, and Dale (Debbie) Gerhardt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and his beloved dogs, Harley and Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Stephanie Gerhardt; brother, Glenn Gerhardt; his parents, Arthur and Loretta Gerhardt; and his mother and father-in-law, Opal and Frank Porter.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 8, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at the Warren Cemetery. It would be Don’s request for his family and friends to come dressed casual and comfortable.
