Donald Henry Langer, age 87 of River Falls, WI, died on Tuesday morning, January 21, 2020 at Comforts of Home in River Falls. Donald was born November 30, 1932 to Henry and Florence (Andrle) Langer. After finishing school at St. Mary’s Big River, he helped on the family farm until he was called to serve in the United States Army from 1953-1955. After his time in the service, Don worked for a couple years at the window shutter factory in Prescott.

Donald was united in marriage to Doris A. Marek on June 2, 1956 at St. Mary’s Big River Catholic Church in River Falls. To this union, three children were born.

Donald and Doris farmed on her family’s farm until 1974 when they moved to River Falls and Don began working for the River Falls School District, until his retirement in 1998. Donald then served on the board for the River Falls Senior Center for several years. Donald took great pride in caring for his lawn and garden, enjoyed going on many bus and car trips, as well as playing cards, and being with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris; his children, Deborah Odahlen, Daniel Langer, and Darwin Langer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Marie (Richard) Brookshaw, Judy (Donald) Hermann; sister-in-law, Geri Langer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Florence Langer; brother, Alvin Langer; sisters, Marlys Langer, and Joann Langer Berg; brother-in-law, Robert Berg; and nephews, Craig and Michael Berg.

Mass of Christian Burial for Donald Langer will be held at 2:30pm on Sunday, January 26th at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division Street in River Falls, with Rev. Fr. Jerry Harris officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 1:00pm. Military honors provided by the Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion Post 121. Donald’s final place of rest will be the St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Memorials honoring Donald Langer may be directed to St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.
