Donald Erwin Schumacher, a beloved father, proud veteran, devoted farmer, and active community member, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, just weeks shy of his 95th birthday. He was born on March 30, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio, and later made his home in Baldwin, Wisconsin. Don married Viola Hauck and together were blessed with 3 children. Viola sadly passed in 2003. Don served his country honorably as an Air Force Pilot for 23 years, earning the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him. After his military career, he embraced his role as a farmer, running Whispering Silos Farm with his son, Buddy, where he dedicated himself to the land and community he loved.

In addition to his remarkable service in the Air Force, Donald was involved in local governance and public service. He served on the fire department board for 23 years and held the position of township chairman in Rush River for 24 years.

Don had a passion for the great outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting whenever he could. A man of many stories, he could engage in conversation for hours, delighting others with his wit and wisdom.

He is survived by his son, Buddy (Linda) Schumacher, and daughter Bonnie (Dennis) Hawley; son-in-law Scott Ackley; grandchildren Cody (Shauna), Clinton (Stacy), Drew, Shelby (Casey), Jesse (Rachel), and Mindy (Billy); step-grandchildren Doug and Kelle (Andrew); many great grandchildren and sister Mickey Bussman.
