Donald T “Ozzy” Asmus, age 62 of Prescott, WI, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Don was born in Fond du Lac, WI September 4, 1958 to Norman and Joyce (Scheibach) Asmus. Don attended Goodrich High school in Fond du Lac, WI. He later met and married the love of his life Mary Jo Smet on July 7, 1979 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.  Their union was blessed with two children, Eric and Emily.

Donald was a well-rounded man who was willing to help anyone at any time. A heart of gold, Donald truly cared about all of his friends and cared deeply for his family. Don would light up a room with his contagious smile and easy-going personality. Don enjoyed sports, cheering on many sports teams. He especially loved baseball, and played for Jim’s 8 Ball Inn gaining the nickname “Ozzy” while living in Fond du Lac. He delighted in the outdoors and deer hunting with his grandsons. Donald touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Donald is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; children: Eric (Tanya) Asmus and Emily (Mario) Gamez; grandchildren: Nicholas, Hannah, Kayla, Lily, Nathan, Gabriella, and Izayah; siblings: David (Peggy) Asmus, Diana (Butch) Rost, Carol (Richard) Brauer and Roy (Patti) Asmus; sisters-in-law: Barb Asmus and Sue (Dick) Pontzlaff; brother in-law, William Kellett, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death with his parents, Norman and Joyce Asmus; parents-in-law, Joseph and Lorraine Smet; infant grandchild; siblings: Lee Asmus, Jeffrey Asmus, Robert Smet, and Kathy Kellett.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 4:00- 8:00pm Friday, April 23, 2021 at O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home 1339 Orrin Road, Prescott, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Donald’s family.
