Donna M. Shubat

Donna Mae Shubat, age 92 of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 at Cambridge Senior Living in Hudson. Donna was born in Drummond, WI on September 2, 1931, to parents Clarence and Esther (Olson) Peterson. She graduated from Drummond High School and went on to attend business school in Eau Claire. On June 25, 1955 Donna was united in marriage to Matthew Shubat at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Sanborn. The couple was blessed with three children; Nathan, and twins Mary and Marcy; and made their home in Hudson.

Donna enjoyed working as a Lunch Lady at E.P. Rock School for many years. She adored the students and loved preparing the food. Cooking was her love language; she spent a lot of her time in the kitchen preparing meals and baked goods for those she loved. She also loved to knit, quilt, and celebrate her Norwegian Heritage. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished being a part of their lives and supporting them in all endeavors. Donna enjoyed helping others by being a volunteer for Operation Help and the food shelf. She will always be remembered as a good role model, for her work ethic, and generous heart.

She will remain in the hearts of her children Nate (Toni) Shubat, Marcia (Jim) Krier, and Mary Petersen; grandchildren Caitlin Shubat (José Mostajo Medina), Stacy (Dan) Niven, Matt (Brooke) Krier, Sarah (Adam) Roundy and Jon Krier; great-grandchildren Harper Niven, Brayden Niven, Everett Niven, Addison Niven, Leo Mostajo Shubat, Jordan Mostajo Shubat, and Cal Krier; brother Gerald Peterson and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband Matt, her parents Clarence and Esther Peterson, son-in-law Bob Petersen, sister Katherine (John) Lindfors, sister-in-law Mary Ann Peterson.

A funeral service in honor of Donna will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, WI. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service starting at 12 p.m.  Memorials preferred to St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Hudson. watch her service HERE .
