Donna Mae Hollyday

Donna Mae Hollyday age 82 of Hudson died unexpectedly Wednesday October 31, 2012 at her residence. Donna was born on September 6, 1930 in Owatonna, Minnesota the daughter of Alvin and Amelia (Spinler) Miller. She was raised in Owatonna where she attended school. While working at Trimble Hat Company, she would meet Robin Hollyday. They were wed on December 1, 1956 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They would be blessed with five children: Mark, Lauren, Nancy, Timothy, and Emily. They began their life together in the Twin Cities, moving to Holyoke, MN in 1973. They would later relocate to Hudson in the early 80’s. Over the years, she worked as a clerk for various retail stores such as Walgreens and Dayton’s. Later, she enjoyed her time at the Old World Bakery in Hudson as well as the Hudson Memorial Hospital’s gift shop. She was a connoisseur of chocolate. Her sweet tooth led her to begin making chocolate candies and suckers. She was also a crafter who enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She made each of her grandkids an afghan for graduation. She had so many crafts and supplies in her house that Robin often referred to the basement as ‘Mom’s Walmart’. She was also fair game for a quick run to the casino to try her lucky hand.

Donna leaves to mourn, her children: Mark (Teresa O’Fallon) Hollyday, Lauren (Tom) Foust, Nancy Rogers (Brian Wulf), Timothy (Michele) Hollyday and Emily Hollyday (Kyle Redlaczyk); seven grandchildren, also serving as her casket bearers: Kevin Rogers, Wayne Rogers, Robin Hollyday, Adam Hollyday, Trenton Foust, Tavis Foust, and Danielle Hollyday, and her brother Donald Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband Robin, and siblings Harold “Bud” (Dorothy) Miller, and Evelyn (Clarence) Grose.

Funeral service for Donna will be 11AM Monday, November 5 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson with Pastor Tim Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 until 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home as well as one hour prior to the service at church on Monday morning. Memorials preferred.
