Donna Ruetz

Donna Mae Ruetz, age 79, of New Richmond, WI, passed away on December 3, 2015 at her home in New Richmond.

Donna was born on October 26, 1936 to Valdemar and Helga (Boesen) Hovlid at their home on the farm in Wilson, WI. She had one sister, Ethel Sklar. She went to Denver School through the 8th grade, and graduated from Woodville High School, the class of 1954. She worked in the twin cities until 1956, when she married Rodney Timm of Wilson, a marriage which later ended in divorce. She worked for many years for “Jim” Deringer Agency in Baldwin, then in St. Paul at Alexander and Alexander Ins., and lastly as a secretary for the Federal Government, USDA, Farmers Home Administration.

In September of 1981, she married Eugene Ruetz and their family made their home between Roberts and New Richmond. For her entire life, she always had a pet, all of whom she dearly loved. She enjoyed working, traveling, and her home. She was a devoted member of Cross Lutheran Church, and was active in the Women’s Group. For many years, she made dozens of lefse for their Cookie Fair, served as Treasurer, and participated in other church activities. She was also a member of the Nike Neighbors Homemakers Group.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Kevin Ruetz and Lisa Trummer; granddaughter, Sarah Trummer; sister, Ethel Sklar; step-brother, John (Rachel) Terkelsen, step sister-in-law Marie Terkelsen. Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; her parents; brother-in-law, Dell Sklar, and step brother Hanley Terkelsen.

A Celebration of Life for Donna (A “happy occasion”) will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Cross Lutheran Church, 1246 Cty Rd. TT, Roberts. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the Celebration at the church. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
