Donovan McGinley

Donovan “Don” E. McGinley, age 76, of Hudson, WI, passed away on July 5, 2015 at his home in Hudson.

Don was born on August 3, 1938 in Hudson, WI, the son of Virgil and Gladys (Swenson) McGinley. He grew up in North Hudson and attended Hudson High School. Following his education, Don proudly served in the United States Air Force for over eight years.

On August 23, 1958, he was united in marriage to Burdell “Birdie” Bieneman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. They would be blessed with three children: David, John, and Kathryn.

Don had a successful, thirty year career at 3M as a warehouse supervisor. Don was a generous volunteer who donated much of his time to Meal on Wheels, the Hudson Food Shelf, Christian Community Home, and helped transport seniors to and from appointments and events. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower garden, and doing yard work. Above everything, he cherished time spent with his family, and loved spoiling his grandkids.

Don is survived by his children: David McGinley of Hudson, WI, John (Rhonda) McGinley of New Richmond, WI, and Kathryn (Troy) Knudson of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren: Jordan McGinley, Adria Knudson, Megan McGinley, and Logan Knudson; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Birdie; parents; brothers, Dallas and Daryl McGinley; and sister, Shirley Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, with a prayer service concluding the evening at 7 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St., Hudson, with a visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
