Doris Peterson

Doris Marie (Niedfeldt) Peterson, age 85 years, and 8 months died at her winter home in New Port Richey, FL on February 25, 2017. Doris was born on June 11,1931. She married George D, Peterson on September 3, 1951, and enjoyed a life raising 5 children on their dairy farm ”Happy Hollow Guernsey Farm” in Wilson, WI.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was a 4-H Leader teaching Cooking, Sewing, Horticulture (gardening and flowers) and helping with the Dairy and Horses when their children were in 4-H. She was a leader in the St Croix Co Farm Bureau, helping her husband when he was county President. She was county and district Farm Bureau chairwoman and was St Croix Co Farm Bureau women treasurer, helping chair the Farm Bureau Fair Stand for many years at the St Croix County Fair.

Doris held many different positions with the Wisconsin Association of Wo/Men Highway Safety Leaders, Vice President and Treasurer for many years, she was the district Chairperson for as long as the organization has been organized. As a chairperson for the district, she sat on the St Croix Traffic Commission. Until developing eye cancer, she enjoyed quilting with the Ladies at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Doris is survived by her 5 children: Ann (Jim) Polen, Gary (Melanie) Peterson, Randy (Kelly Jo) Peterson, Mary Peterson Norton, and Robert ””Bob”” Peterson; grandchildren: Tom (Dawn) Polen, Mark (Cassie) Polen; Brian Peterson, Danny (Dixcie) Peterson, Greg (Amy) Peterson, Scott (Dani) Peterson; Chris (Angie) Peterson, Curt (Monica) Peterson, Janelle Peterson, Jake Peterson, Jaci (Pat) Peterson; step-son Troy(Melissa) Norton; great-grandchildren: Nelson Polen; Caleigha Scoville, Marshall Peterson, Clyde Peterson, Scarlett Peterson, Alex Peterson, Gage Peterson, Tessa Peterson, Axel Peterson, James Maynard; step-grandchildren: Andrew, Dakota, Shantel & Mercedes Hattery, Phoenix & Parker O’Dea; Brendon (Kelsey) Norton and Kyle, Chason Norton, Adam, George, Jack & Luci Wedig; and many more extended relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents: Louis (Meta) ””Wege”” Niedfeldt; brother Bill (Delores) Niedfeldt; husband George Peterson; son-in-law Jack Norton.

Funeral services will be 11AM Monday, March 6th at Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5pm to 9pm at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Burial will be at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Baldwin. Memorials are preferred. Doris lived a long and busy life. Now she is resting with George in a place with the Lord.
