Doris Puterka

Doris Annetta Puterka, age 96, of Hammond, WI formerly of Hudson and Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 15, 2020 at Hammond Health Services Care Center in Hammond, WI. Doris was born on February 28, 1923 in Kenosha, WI, to parents John and Emmaline (DeCamp) Demske. She attended elementary school and high school in Kenosha, WI before marrying the love of her life James “Jim” Puterka on November 28, 1940 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Kenosha, WI.

Together they were blessed with four daughters. In 1966 they moved to Hudson where Doris worked at Erickson’s and volunteered often at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Doris enjoyed crocheting and reading in her spare time but what she truly loved most of all was being there for her family and showing them how much she loved them. She will be remembered for her bubbly personality and the love she had for her family.

Doris remains in the hearts of her children Sandy (Randy) Morrissette, Jayme (John) Marino, and JoEllen (Mike) Steele; grandchildren Deb, Chris (Jason), Randy (Kirsten), Kathi, Tanya, Stacy, and Michelle; great-grandchildren Tayler (Gabe), Zac, Ali, Alex, Aaliyah, Andre, Jacob, Mitchell, Summer (Tom), Kya, River, Vance, Gavin, and Elliott; great-great-grandchildren Autum and Henry as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James; daughter Judy; granddaughter Tara Lynn; brother John Demske and sister Joyce Quinn.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris will be at 11am on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be the night prior on Monday, January 20, 2020 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson from 4-6pm, as well as one hour prior to Mass at church. Memorials are preferred to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
