Dorothy L. Scott

Dorothy Lorraine (Bolier) Scott, age 89 of Baldwin, passed away February 11, 2014 at the Baldwin Care Center. Dorothy was born April 14, 1924; the daughter of Herbert and Rose (Olson) Niederer. Dorothy graduated from Baldwin High School, the class of 1941. She was united in marriage to Donald Bolier in 1942. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Steve, Doug, Mike and Patti. After Donald’s death in 1962, she took over his business, Bolier Music Company. Dorothy also worked at the Baldwin Post Office for many years. She later married Leonard Scott Jr., who passed away in 1983.

Dorothy loved being on the water, especially boating on the St. Croix River, as well as the years she lived on Lake Wapogasset. She was a dedicated homemaker, who could fill a room with her generous heart and wonderful food. She could often be found in her kitchen, making her famous chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie or fresh baked rolls. Those that knew her didn’t hesitate to gather around at the mention of her cooking. Whether you were family or someone she just met, you would be welcomed into her arms and home with food made with love. Wherever Dorothy lived, she made life-long friends, and was affectionately referred to as ”Grandma Dorothy”” by many besides her own grandchildren.

Dorothy was passionate about her faith and politics. She could often be found reading her well-worn and loved Bible, if she wasn’t watching CNN and discussing current events. But in between the pages of her Bible, is where you would find traces of what was most important to her, letters, notes, and pictures of her family and friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Dorothy will remain in the hearts of her children, Douglas (Judith) Bolier of Stevens Point, and Patrice (Wayne) Helgeson of Baldwin. Grandchildren: Donald (Natalie) Bolier, Jeffery (Misty) Bolier, Stacey (Jay) Schnackenberg, Aimee (Shane) Christenson, Brian (Sara) Bolier, Jennifer (Nathan) Schustek, Heidi Urness, Keri (Dean) Davenport, and Sally (Ryan) Paul; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Schickel and Evelyn Taylor; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and Steven, and Steven’s wife Judith; husbands, Donald Bolier and Leonard Scott Jr.; brothers, Harry and William Niederer; and sisters, Betty Germain and Ruth Leske.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 21, 2014 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence St., Baldwin, with Reverend Carrie Anderson officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Private interment will take place at a later date at the Baldwin Cemetery. A special thanks to the staff of Baldwin Care Center and Adoray Home and Hospice for their loving care of Dorothy. Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin (715) 684-3434
