Dorothy Elaine Larson, age 89, of Baldwin, WI, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024 with family by her side. Dorothy was born on June 16, 1935 to parents Melford and Florence (Delander) Shefland. She graduated from Woodville High School with the class of 1953 and shortly after married the love of her life Robert Larson on September 25, 1954 and together they had four children. Dorothy worked as a Teletype operator at 3M for one year before she decided to stay home to raise her family.
Dorothy was known for her love for crocheting, playing cards, and her involvement at Peace Lutheran Church. She tirelessly served as a custodian alongside her husband Bob from 2000 to 2016. Dorothy also worked as a teacher’s aide in Baldwin and the River Falls School district, where she made a difference in the lives of special needs children.
Family was at the center of Dorothy’s world, cherishing every moment with her husband, kids, and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She could often be found supporting and attending all of their school activities, showing her unwavering love and pride in their accomplishments.
She will remain in the hearts of her children Janelle Timm, Kandis (Glenn) Meyer, and Scott (Barb) Larson; grandchildren Dustin Timm, Shannon Klin, Shawn (Erin) Timm, Allison (Alex) Rykken, Amanda (Brian) Leitzke, and Jacob (Ashley) Larson; great grandchildren Macie and Kendra Timm, Kelson and Brayden Klin, Trey, Addison and Camden Timm, Lars and Anders Rykken, Lincoln, Faith, and Kamali Leitzke, and Jack and Margaret Larson; sister Betty Johnson; sisters-in-law Evelyn Fordahl, Audrey (Jerry) Goossen, Myrna Larson and Janet (Kevin) Johnson as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob; infant son James Robert; siblings Donna Mae Schoonover, Wally Shefland, and Shirley Goossen; siblings-in-law George Larson, Marion Peterson, Audley Larson, Donny Larson; Son-In-Law Dennis (Denver) Timm and special nephew Gerald “Jerry” Larson.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Baldwin, visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. before the service at church. Her service will also be livestreamed here for those who are unable to attend her service in person. Memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church.
