Dorothy Louise “Butch” Schneider (nee Zillmer), age 69 of Baldwin, WI, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center. Butch was born on December 18, 1940 in Baldwin, WI to parents Adolph and LaVina (Luellmann) Zillmer. Butch attended Riverside Elementary School, and graduated from Baldwin High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville. On May 27, 1961, at a ceremony held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dorothy would be united in marriage to Carroll Schneider.
After graduation, Butch worked at First National Bank in St. Paul, and then worked for 37 years at the ASCS, or Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service, Office in Baldwin (currently the St. Croix County Farm Service Agency) until her retirement in 1996. Butch was a member of the First Reformed Church, and was active in church activities and Women’s Ministries. She loved to bake, shop, enjoyed her card club, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Butch actively volunteered at the Baldwin Care center, and served as a Director on their Board for 14 years. Butch was also a member of the Baldwin Hospital Auxiliary.
Butch was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Audrey Hurtgen; her brother, Gordon; sister-in-law, Carol Zillmer; and her nephew Todd Hurtgen;. Butch is survived by her husband of 49 years, Carroll; brother-in-law, Richard (Sallie) Hurtgen; known as “Auntie Butch” to her loving and cherished nieces and nephews, Julie (Ed) Swenson, and their children Brian (Whitney) and Serena; Nick (Mary) Zillmer and their children Megan and Hayden; Lisa Roatch and her son Dustin; Brenda (Richard) Cronk and their children Krista and Jena and her daughter Maddy; special friends Renee Heinbuch and Randi Tolonen; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Funeral Services for Dorothy “Butch” Schneider will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 12, 2010 at the First Reformed Church of Baldwin WI, with Pastor Tim Sluiter officiating. Interment will follow at the Baldwin Cemetery with Harvey Hielkema, Jim Doornink, Rich Hanson, Ed Swenson, Brian Swenson, and Dustin Roatch serving as active casketbearers. Russ Schultz, Russ Schultz Jr., Rich Schultz, Renee Heinbuch and Randi Tolonen will serve as honorary casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church, and also from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin.
