Douglas Gronseth

Douglas Gronseth, formerly of Hudson died November 28, 2011 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Doug was born on August 1, 1945 in Rochester, Minnesota; the son of Lyman and Ruby (Anderson) Gronseth. Doug attended elementary school in Mantorville prior to graduating Lourde’s High School in Rochester. He would further his education at Rochester Junior College. Doug was a proud and dedicated employee of IBM. He worked in administration for 35 years. On May 1, 1965, he was united in marriage to Jean Brakke at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Hayfield, MN. This union would be further blessed with three children ; Lon, Heidi, Melissa and Seven Grandchildren. Doug cherished spending time with his family. He appreciated the outdoors, trying his hand at fishing, or traveling to special places with Jean. Furthermore, he enjoyed his time spent coaching baseball and being active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Doug will remain in the hearts of his best friends and wife Jean, children Lon M. (Claudia) Gronseth of Roberts, Heidi L. (Robert) Tulgren of River Falls, Melissa R. (Daniel) Luedke of Roberts, grandchildren Keli Kennedy, Lauren Tulgren, Hannah Tulgren, Drew Luedke, Robert (Bobby) Tulgren II, Cooper Luedke, Maria Gronseth, Mother; Ruby Gronseth, Sisters; Pat Carney, Pam Smith and Brothers; Lyman Gronseth, Jr and David Gronseth.
He is preceded in death by his father Lyman Gronseth, parents-in-law Walter (Myrtle) Brakke.
Funeral service will be 11AM Monday December 5th at Bethel Lutheran Church; 920 Third Street in Hudson. Burial will be in the East St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in Byron, Minnesota with active casketbearers being Lon Gronseth, Lyman Gronseth Jr., Daniel Luedke, Robert Tulgren, Drew Luedke, Clifford Brakke, with honorary casketbearers being Keli Kennedy, Lauren Tulgren, Hannah Tulgren, Drew Luedke, Robert (Bobby) Tulgren II, Cooper Luedke, and Maria Gronseth. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday morning. Funeral services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
