    • “Butch” and I were first cousins, only six months apart in age. We grew up just blocks from each other in River Falls. My mother and his father were siblings. During our growing up years, were were together often, playing together with great ease. Our families always celebrated Easter and Christmas together. During those celebrations, we cousins always sang, and played the piano for our large family of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and beloved cousins Verda and Vera Kendall. I always loved the duets Doug and I sang together on those holidays. I loved him as I loved my brothers; we played together, laughed, and talked endlessly. I was honored to sing for his wedding to his beautiful bride, Vonnie. He had a gentle soul, a kind generous heart, great compassion, and always seemed thrilled at the time we could spend together. Our last conversation was filled with wonderful stories about our growing up years. I will be forever grateful to have shared my life with my dear Butch. Until we meet again.

    • Dear Boles Family,

Doug will be missed by many. He could always make me laugh.
I have so many memories at the Red Wing home, sitting at your
kitchen table, listening patiently about the Packers, but admiring
your loyalty! ((Hugs to all)) Love, “Sam”
