Douglas Ray Brathall

Douglas “Doug” Ray Brathall, age 73, passed away on November 25, 2017, at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond. Doug was born on May 24, 1944, in Springfield Township, the son of Curtis and Cena (Hilmoe) Brathall. He attended grade school in Woodville as well as Baldwin-Woodville High School. On June 1, 1963, Doug was united in marriage to Marjorie “Sis” (Ostrum) Brathall; their union was soon blessed with three children, Jeff, Cheryl, and Angela.

Doug had an unquestionable love for his family, as he always looked forward to the holidays and occasions when he could spend time with his children and grandkids. He greatly appreciated each moment with his family during the holiday season, as well as the annual ‘Hammond Days’ events. Doug had a tenacious and dedicated work ethic; he was an excellent handyman, and was able to accomplish any labor-intensive or burdensome job. Doug also had an interest in great music; he had a special appreciation for Johnny Cash, Elvis and Creedence Clearwater Revival. He was also an avid follower of the Wisconsin Badgers, and he loved to watch the Green Bay Packers on Sundays.

Doug will remain in the hearts of his children, Jeff A. Brathall of Hammond, Cheryl (Tony) Gillford Brathall of Eau Claire, and Angela “Burr” Brathall (Kevin Krause) of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Denver, Cassondra, Hayley, Elizabeth “Dizzy” (Randy Harrison), Derek, Dillon, Deijah LaRae, and Jaedyn; great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Ray “Bucksnort”, Isabella, Amya, Akavaeh, Braydon, Jamison, Kolton, MaKenzie, Leilin, Nolan, and Emma; sister-in-law, Liz Brathall; his special partner of 20 years, Deb Kelly; his beloved cat, Pippi, as well as numerous extended family members and close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents, Curtis and Cena; siblings, Harriet Prause, Arlene Thompson, Betty Lois Brathall, Judith Ann Brathall, Gene Brathall, Leroy Brathall, Robert Brathall, and Doris Yoder.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on from 12-3:30 PM on Sunday, December 3, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Baldwin, WI, followed by a memorial service for Doug at 3:30 PM. The family wishes to encourage guests to wear their Green Bay Packers attire to Doug’s gathering and memorial service.
