Dr. Frank H Hollar

Dr. Frank Hartman Hollar, age 81, of Hudson, Wisconsin, died suddenly on October 17, 2011 at the River Falls Area Medical Center.

Frank was born on October 24, 1929 to George and Hannah Hollar in Sioux City, IA.  Frank grew up in Sioux City, IA, graduated from Central High School and went on to attend Morningside College, also in Sioux City.  In 1951, Frank married his high school sweetheart, Jan Warnke.  This marriage would be blessed with four children: Gregory, Gary, Erik and Gayle.  It was also 1951 that Frank enlisted into the Air Force where he served for 2 years during the Korean War.  He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and worked in supply.  Upon completion of his military service, Frank returned home and attended college at the University of Iowa.  He graduated from Iowa in 1954 with a Pre-Med and BA degree.  He went on to attend the Kirksville College of Osteopathy where he graduated in 1959.  After a one-year internship in Saginaw, Michigan, Frank and Jan moved their family to Hudson, Wisconsin where he began a private practice with Dr. Jim Stout.  Dr. Stout would pass away two years later, but Frank would continue to serve the Hudson community for forty-two years.  He retired on October 24, 2000 and he and Jan would remain in Hudson close to family and friends.

Frank was a hard-working and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in his garden where he raised vegetables for friends and family.  He was an avid hunter, making frequent trips to Iowa for pheasant hunting and also enjoyed training and competing with his bird hunting dogs.  He trained Vizslas and German Short Hairs and won several hunting and show titles.  Special times in Frank’s life were times spent with his family.  With Jan and the children with him, he traveled to many locations in the continental US and made many memories.

Frank is survived by his: wife, Jan (Warnke) Hollar of Hudson, children, Gregory (Svetlana) from Parker, CO, Gary (Sue) from Amery, WI, Gayle (Kevin) Junker of Stillwater, MN and Erik of Hudson; and grandchildren, Matt, Timothy and Steven all of Colorado and Tanya and Torey Junker of Stillwater.
