Dr. Gary Alan Palmquist, DDS, 62, of Ellsworth, died peacefully, Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at his home in El Paso surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born in St. Paul, MN the son of Kenneth and Olga (Christopherson) Palmquist.
He married Sue Volkmann on June 24, 1978 in Red Wing, MN.
Gary practiced dentistry in Ellsworth, WI for 34 years. He retired to his beloved family land (“the farm”) in El Paso, WI in 2014.
Gary loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed travel, history, music, movies, reading, fishing on the Rush River, and the outdoors. He was an active member of the Ellsworth Lion’s club, English Lutheran Church, and the Red Wing Singers. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, and Corgi dog lover. As an avid sports fan Gary supported the U of M Gophers (his alma mater), the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, and he learned to love the UW Badgers (his 3 children’s alma mater).
He is survived by his wife Sue,
their three children: Ellie (John) Marlow, children Jane and Pierce, Washington DC;
Laura (Miguel) Gallego, children Felix and Clara, Encinitas, CA; Kirby (Lynn Lukoskie) Palmquist, Minneapolis, MN.
Brother Roger (Donna) Palmquist, Red Wing, MN.
Gary is further survived by a large extended family and many friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 2pm Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 at “the farm” and 3:30 to 6 pm at the El Paso Bar and Grill (W4277 County Road G, Ellsworth, WI 54011).
