Dr. James Leo “Doc” Wallace, age 90, of Stillwater, MN, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2016.

James was born on July 14, 1926 to John and Genevieve (Maroney) Wallace in Hudson, WI. He grew up in Hudson, attending St. Patrick School and graduating from Hudson High School in 1944. James was united in marriage to Carol Cook on September 25, 1948 at the Church of St. Charles in Bayport, a loving union that was blessed with seven children. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota and the Northwestern Chiropractic College earning a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 1956. James started his chiropractic practice in Stillwater, MN and worked for more that 40 years as a chiropractor. In 1968, the family moved from Stillwater to a home in Amery, WI on Lake Wapogasset. Before retiring in 1998, James and Carol moved back to Stillwater.

James was a good-hearted man who loved spending time with his family, but he also loved to go fishing. He was his happiest on a boat searching for Walleye. He was fond of hunting for deer and birds, and enjoyed bowling, and playing cards. James dedicated a lot of time to his strong catholic beliefs and truly believed in the importance of faith. He genuinely cared about each one of his patients, family members, and friends. James’ heart was bigger then even he knew, having touched the lives of many and leaving a lasting impression on his community. He consistently went out of his way to help others in need and will be missed by all who knew him.

James will remain in the hearts of his children, Jerry (Sue) Wallace, Jimmy Wallace, Dr. Terry Wallace, Robert (Melanie) Wallace, Toni (Jason) Barr, and Carolann (Robert) Hochhalter; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill (Diane) Wallace.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carol; daughter, Deborah Wallace; parents, John and Genevieve Wallace; siblings, Gerald Wallace and Margaret Johnson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at the Church of St. Charles, 409 N. 3rd St., Bayport, MN. Dr. James L. 'Doc''s Tribute Wall

Tributes (7):

Please note: if you just submitted a tribute, it is pending approval.
    • Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Doc sat near us at Mass when he attended St. Patricks in Hudson. Sometimes people can sit in their same spots next to the same people for years at Church and never know each other. But not so with Doc. After sitting by my son and me only a couple of times, by the 3rd time he went out of his way to introduce himself and he asked our names. He said that if we’re going to keep meeting like this . . . we ought to know each other’s names! He always greeted us with such warmth that we felt it was not the obligatory weekly greeting but rather a genuine and sincere care for how we were. We have not seen Doc in a while but we will always remember what a friendly and kindly soul he was. Peace to your family.

    • Grandpa Wallace was one of best men I have known in my life. I will always cherish the time and memories. Some of my best childhood memories were the Wallace Christmas. Every year Grandpa would say the Christmas prayer before opening presents. He always included our Aunt Debbie in the prayer and I remember with his reaction of tears, how much he missed her and wished she was there with the family. I feel peace knowing he is with her and Grandma again after so many years! I am also proud to pass on my love of fishing I received from Grandpa to my twins. I wish he could see how much they love the sport as well!

My thoughts and prayers are with my Mom, Aunt, Uncles and Cousins.

    • We were so sorry to hear about Jim’s death. He was a great guy always friendly and loved to talk about Hudson his home town. He and Carol were such a great couple.
Our prayers and good thoughts are with you all.

    • Those of the Wallace family, I have deep sympathy for you, I know the exact feeling of losing a loved one especially when they set there Mark on a family as a good person, as I’m sure he was. Something that personally helps me in my time of mourning or whenever I have negative feelings when I think about the ones I’ve lost, is a scripture in the bible, Revelation 21:3,4. Please, give it a look and contact me at SincereWhitehead@gmail.com, I truely hope this assists you.

    • Sending love and prayers to all of the family. Will be thinking of you as you face the days ahead!
