Dr. James L. ‘Doc’ Wallace

Dr. James Leo “Doc” Wallace, age 90, of Stillwater, MN, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2016.

James was born on July 14, 1926 to John and Genevieve (Maroney) Wallace in Hudson, WI. He grew up in Hudson, attending St. Patrick School and graduating from Hudson High School in 1944. James was united in marriage to Carol Cook on September 25, 1948 at the Church of St. Charles in Bayport, a loving union that was blessed with seven children. He continued his education at the University of Minnesota and the Northwestern Chiropractic College earning a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree in 1956. James started his chiropractic practice in Stillwater, MN and worked for more that 40 years as a chiropractor. In 1968, the family moved from Stillwater to a home in Amery, WI on Lake Wapogasset. Before retiring in 1998, James and Carol moved back to Stillwater.

James was a good-hearted man who loved spending time with his family, but he also loved to go fishing. He was his happiest on a boat searching for Walleye. He was fond of hunting for deer and birds, and enjoyed bowling, and playing cards. James dedicated a lot of time to his strong catholic beliefs and truly believed in the importance of faith. He genuinely cared about each one of his patients, family members, and friends. James’ heart was bigger then even he knew, having touched the lives of many and leaving a lasting impression on his community. He consistently went out of his way to help others in need and will be missed by all who knew him.

James will remain in the hearts of his children, Jerry (Sue) Wallace, Jimmy Wallace, Dr. Terry Wallace, Robert (Melanie) Wallace, Toni (Jason) Barr, and Carolann (Robert) Hochhalter; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Bill (Diane) Wallace.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carol; daughter, Deborah Wallace; parents, John and Genevieve Wallace; siblings, Gerald Wallace and Margaret Johnson.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at the Church of St. Charles, 409 N. 3rd St., Bayport, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI, as well as one hour prior to the Mass at church on Saturday.
