Dr. Larry Patrick Traynor, 79, passed peacefully at home in River Falls, WI, on July 4, in the company of his family.
Larry was born on June 26, 1941 in River Falls, WI, to Mary LaMoine and George Donovan Traynor. Larry was raised in Ellsworth, WI, attended Ellsworth schools including St. Francis School and Ellsworth High School, graduating in 1959. He was a member of Ellsworth’s first wrestling team, wrestling for Kirby Symes. After high school, Larry studied Pre-Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. He completed his veterinary medicine studies at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1965 and began practicing in Ellsworth the same year. Larry’s practice served the greater Ellsworth and surrounding areas until his retirement in 2001.
Larry enjoyed life, often in the company of family and friends. As a young man in the 50’s and 60’s and with American car culture in full swing, he was drawn to the fast cars of the era. This interest grew into a lifetime passion for Corvettes, which he owned and meticulously cared for over the years including at the time of his passing. He also spent many years riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles throughout the midwest and western states and loved boating on the St. Croix River. He enjoyed playing pool with friends and participated in pool leagues over the years. He was an avid trap shooter, served as a member of the Ellsworth Rod & Gun Club, and was always up for a game of euchre or poker. Upon retirement, Larry and Joyce spent their winters at their home on Marco Island, Florida.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joyce (River Falls, WI); sister Barbara Dagastino (Darrell)(River Falls, WI); sons Todd (Janet)(Rocklin, CA), Thomas (Rosie)(Orange, CA), and Michael (Amy)(Chicago, IL); daughter Lori Larson(River Falls, WI); granddaughter Kathleen Traynor (Rocklin, CA); grandsons Tyler (Reno, NV), Aiden (Orange, CA) and Brendan Traynor (Orange,CA); and many nieces, nephews and brothers/sisters-in-law.
