DuWayne Thomas “Tom” McNamara, age 71 of Hammond, passed away February 1, 2014 at United Hospital in St. Paul. Tom was born June 10, 1942 in Baldwin; the son of Myles and Anna (Salmon) McNamara. He graduated from New Richmond High School, the class of 1960. He was united in marriage on August 19, 1967 to Karen Evelyn Harer in Pierre, South Dakota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Jodi. Tom worked as a supervisor for Unisys for 26 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Tom remained busy doing wood crafting and yard work. He is best remembered on his John Deere tractor and for his good sense of humor. Tom took good care of everything around him, especially his family. He was a true outdoorsman, who took great joy in hunting and fishing. Most important to Tom was his strong faith and his family. He cherished his time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and going to watch them participate at all their sporting events. He took pleasure watching sports on the television and was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan. Tom also enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife, Karen.
Tom will remain in the hearts of his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Karen; son, Jeff (Tammy) McNamara; daughter, Jodi McNamara (fiancé, Troy Bushinger); grandchildren: Nikki (Tyler) Schulz, Jonny Lucas, Alex McNamara, Ben McNamara and Abby McNamara; great grandchildren, Alana Lucas, Hunter Schulz and Camryn Schulz; siblings: Jack (Marilyn) McNamara, Rita Sahli, Ann (Lenny) Potting, Gene McNamara, Dick (Gayle) McNamara, Kenny (Diane) McNamara and Terry McNamara; sister-in-law, Patricia McNamara; as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pat; sisters-in-law, Margaret McNamara and Karen McNamara; brother-in-law, Virgil Sahli; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will take place 11:00 AM Thursday, February 6th at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 2528 80th Ave., Woodville, with Pastor Wayne Hilgendorf officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 5th at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, as well as one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will take place at a later date at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.
