Dwaine “Bumps” Walter Persells, age 83 of Siren, WI, formerly of North Hudson, passed away December 4, 2018 at The Deerfield Gables in New Richmond.

Dwaine was born April 21, 1935 in Ogdensburg, WI, to Lawrence and Emma (Clementson) Persells. He was raised in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School in 1953. He proudly served in the Wisconsin National Guard for six years. Dwaine was united in marriage to Mary Katherine Denninger on August 27, 1954, in Hudson, and their marriage was blessed with four children. Dwaine worked as a refrigerator designer for United Refrigeration for many years, before turning his passion for woodworking into a second career as a cabinet maker.

Dwaine loved his family above anything else; he cherished spending time with them, and adored the antics of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He possessed many musical talents and was fond of playing the harmonica and accordion; and often volunteered his accordion and harmonica music as the entertainment at nursing homes or for fundraisers. Dwaine enjoyed people and was entertained by making others laugh at his jokes. Besides woodworking, he also liked to go hunting and fishing.

Dwaine is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; children, Dennis (DeAnn) Persells; Cheryl (Don) Fischer, and David (Cheryl) Persells; 9 grandchildren, Dan and Jeff; Jason, Afton, Joe and Aaron; Katie, Jim, and Jeremy; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leland (Marge) Persells, and Karen (David) Linehan; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Persells; his parents; brother, Dale Persells; and sister-in-law, Dolores Persells.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., noon, on Monday, December 10th, at The Deerfield Assisted Living’s Chapel, 1127 W. 8th St., New Richmond, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at the chapel. Dwaine’s family would like to graciously thank the staff at The Deerfield for their wonderful care and support.
