Dwayne Bevers

Dwayne Herbert Bevers, age 83, of Hudson died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Christian Community Home in Hudson. Dwayne was born on January 25, 1931 in Watertown, South Dakota; the son of Willis and Elizabeth (Daily) Bevers. He was raised in South Dakota attending both Pelican and Grover District Schools. On November 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Robish at Carol’s parents’ home. This union would be further blessed with six children.

Dwayne had a long and rewarding career with J.H. Larson Electric in Hudson where he served as plant manager and later retired as salesman in 1992. He also served on the Building Committee for the Christian Community Home and on the Board of Directors for the Hudson Chamber of Commerce.

Dwayne was an avid outdoorsman. He loved golfing, softball, bowling and working at Camp YMCA. Earlier in life, he enjoyed time spent with horses, training and breaking them for riding. He also loved hunting with ‘the gang’; whether it be for deer, ducks, pheasant or geese. Furthermore, he took great pleasure in searching for the elusive walleye. He and Carol also loved to go square dancing.

Dwayne is survived by his children Roger (Patsy) Bevers, Beth (Dewey) Swanson, Keith (Becky) Bevers, Sandra (Doug) Klatt, Tony (Tracy) Bevers, Colleen (Andy) Enloe, grandchildren Brian (Tonia) Bevers, Jason (Sonya) Swanson, Jeremy (Amy) Swanson, Jodi (Travis) Gibson, Nikki (Ryan) Anderson, Christopher (Wendy) Bevers, Katie (Ryan) Hill, Jackie (Matt) Morris, Justin (Leigh) Klatt, Jeffrey (Abby) Klatt, Tyler (Ali) Bevers, Tierney Bevers, Trevor Bevers, Heidi (Eric) Shimon, Dustin (Arielle) Handevidt, 23 great grandchildren, siblings Phyllis (Bud) DeBoer, Donald (Phyllis) Bevers, Robert (Rita) Bevers, Eugene (Dee) Bevers, Maynard (Kathy) Bevers, Thomas (Carol) Bevers, Evelyn Jones, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol, and three grandchildren, Joseph Klatt, Tory and Tara Bevers.

A Memorial service for Dwayne Bevers will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 12th at the United Methodist Church in Hudson. Pastor Bruce Stunkard will officiate. Burial will be in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson. Viewing/visitation will only be Tuesday from 4PM to 7PM at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. A time for family and friends to gather will also be one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Memorials preferred.
