E. Dennis Hollerud

Edgar Dennis Hollerud, age 84, of Hudson, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011. He was born the only son of Edgar O. and Camilla (Nelson) Hollerud on March 31, 1927 in Minneapolis. Dennis grew up on the family farm in rural Glenwood City, Wisconsin and he attended Glenwood City High School. On August 29, 1953 Dennis was united in marriage to Doris C. Anderson at the Mission Covenant Church in Hudson. They were blessed with five children: Kay, Susan, Barbara, James and Janice.

In his 20’s, Dennis sang gospel music with Christ Crusaders Quartet. He always loved music and singing. Dennis worked as a truck driver for Crescent Creamery for 25 years. He then worked in the paper industry at both Hudson Products and then Rayven Company, where he would retire from. Dennis and Doris were members of Elim Covenant Church in St. Paul, and he was an active member. After his retirement, they became regular attendees of Faith Community Church in Hudson. He liked to camp, and he enjoyed learning about and working on all kinds of cars; he was a master “tinker-er” and he could fix almost anything.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris; five children: Kay (Russ) Falstad of Spooner WI, Susan (Mike) Zustiak of Shoreview MN, Barbara Hollerud of Hudson WI, James Hollerud of North Hudson, and Janice (Carl) Nilssen of Clear Lake WI; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters: Dorothy Larsen of Auburndale FL, Marjorie (Rev. Glen) Teasdale of Waukesha WI, and Eileen (Rev. Harold) Tjelta of Nampa ID; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held for Dennis at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1 at Faith Community Church, 777 Carmichael Rd., Hudson. Interment to follow in the Willow River Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 715-386-3725.
