Earl Clarence Mueller age 87 of Roberts died peacefully Friday October 15, 2010 (on his birthday) at his home surrounded by his family. Earl was born on October 15th, 1923 in Afton, Minnesota; the son of Erich and Edna (Meyer) Mueller. He was raised on the family farm next to St. Peter Lutheran Church. He has been a lifelong member. Earl’s entire life has been encompassed by farming; a trade he learned from his dad. The Mueller’s moved to Roberts in 1952. He continued farming up to his death and has passed the tradition to his sons.

On June 11, 1949, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Rapp at Emanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul. This union would be blessed with children Dean, Jerry, and Darlene. Earl devoted his life to farming and family. Earl served as a Mallard Seed dealer for many years. They hosted and were active with Farm City Days in St. Croix County as well as County Youth Exchange from all over the world; including France, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Austria, and other countries. Furthermore, he was a member of the St. Croix County Farm Bureau since 1952 and a delegate for Central and Hammond Livestock Association. He also served as Warren Township Assessor and Board Supervisor as well as a trustee and branch president for Aid Association for Lutherans. When he wasn’t farming, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, dancing to old time music (especially polkas), and playing cards (500) with his best friend and soul mate; Evelyn.

Earl will be fondly remembered by his wife of 61 years Evelyn, children Dean (Jennifer) Mueller, Jerry (Connie) Mueller, Darlene (Jim) Torkelson, grandchildren Steven Mueller, Lori Mueller, Todd (Sonja) Torkelson, Brent (Melinda) Mueller, great grandchildren Hailey and Bridget Mueller, sisters/brothers-in-law Eugene Schultz Sr, Emma Callahan, Lorraine (Ray) Ostertag, Lois Elsenpeter, Roger (Laura) Fritsche, Elys Lee, LaVerne Johnson, Glenn Johnson, Margie (Don) Hoffman, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Erich and Edna (Meyer) Mueller, sister Marion Schultz, and great grandson Logan Mueller.

Funeral service for Earl Mueller will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 20th at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 880 Neal Ave. So., Afton, MN with Pastor Erland Asmus officiating. Organist Nancy Bernath will accompany the singing of Janel Busacker. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, October 19th at The O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson and also one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with active casketbearers being Todd Torkelson, Steve Mueller, Lori Mueller, Brent Mueller, Josh Elsenpeter, Joe Waalen, Todd Henry, with honorary bearers being Dave Kruschke, Carl Casper, Cody Graf, Rod Olson, Eugene Schultz Sr, and Ollie Meilke. Arrangements have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Hudson.
