Edgar Schulz

Edgar William Schulz, age 83 of Hudson, passed away February 3, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Edgar was born March 7, 1931 in Beulah, ND, the son of Edward and Rose (Klundt) Schulz.  He graduated from Beulah High School, the Class of 1949.  Edgar furthered his education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, before enlisting in the United States Army.  He then furthered his education at North Dakota State University, obtaining a Civil Engineering degree. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1956 in Bismarck, ND to Marjorie Constance Tatley.  Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Debra Kaye and Tamara Rae.  Edgar worked as a civil engineer in Jamestown, ND and Brainerd, MN, before moving to California with his family in 1966.  He worked for the City of Bakersfield for 30 years, retiring in 1993 as the Director of Public Works. 

Edgar delighted in researching family genealogy for over 30 years.  His ancestry research found many relatives, took him on travels to Germany and Russia, found him translating German and Polish church records into English, as well as writing two books on genealogy to assist others in their research.  Most important to Edgar was his family.  He was a devoted husband, loving father to his daughters, and an especially proud grandpa and great grandpa. 

Edgar will remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Marjorie; daughters, Debra Kaye Kluge of Lake Stevens, WA and Tamara Rae Schulz of Hudson; granddaughters, Jacqueline Marie (Daniel Gregory) Grabski, Stephanie Ann Rettenmeier and Brittany Nicole Rettenmeier; great grandson, Benjamin Michael Grabski; 6 siblings:  his twin brother, Eugene Schulz, Waldo (Edris) Schulz, Curtis (Virginia) Schulz, Ardella (Jerry) Schafer, Norlyn (Nicky) Schulz and Gary (Jane) Schulz; 2 foster siblings, Kermit and Dolly Dietz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Edgar will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church – Downtown Campus, 920 Third St., Hudson, with Pastor Bob Bipes officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment with military honors will take place at Willow River Cemetery.  Pallbearers assisting with the services will be: Curtis Schulz, Norlyn Schulz, Gary Schulz, Jerry Schafer, Don Rettenmeier, and Ron Kluge; honorary pallbearers: Eugene Schulz and Waldo Schulz.  Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church.
