Edith Ann Nord, age 93, of Hudson Township, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.
Edith was born on March 16, 1917 in Prescott WI, the daughter of Matthew and Mathilda (Johnson) Schommer. She was raised in Prescott.
Edith was working in Hudson when she met her future husband, Lloyd Nord. On July 6, 1943 they were united in marriage in Nyack, NY (picture above), where he was stationed during his service in WWII.
Music was Edith’s second language, playing several instruments in her youth. She had a beautiful singing voice, and she and Lloyd enjoyed dancing in their younger years. Edith’s greatest satisfaction was living to the age of 91 in the house that Lloyd built for her on Trout Brook Road where she raised her family, entertained friends, and enjoyed nature. She and Lloyd also enjoyed traveling in retirement.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; and her siblings: Mary (infant), Alvira, Genevieve, Matthew, Clair, Rita, Joann, Marcella, Anna, and Mathilda.
She is survived by two daughters, Therene (Denis) Lein of Hudson and Fredrice E. Nord (fiancé Glenn Hause) of Hudson; sisters, Betty Cleaver and Mary Jo Dulek; as well as many extended family members.
Edith’s wishes were to be cremated and have a private service.
Burial was in the Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.
