Edward John Holdorf

Age 83, Ellsworth, died Sunday, Jan. 12, at Mayo Health System Red Wing. He was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Cumberland, Wis., the son of William and Mary(Hanson) Holdorf. He was a 1947 graduate of Rice Lake High School, and on Oct. 24, 1953, he married JoAnn Bjorn-stad, at Svea Lutheran Church. He attended River Falls College, and in 1951, was drafted into the United States Army. Upon his discharge and marriage, he went into partnership with his wife’s family’s farming business, which became a Century 100. He retired in 1997. He was a long time and faithful member of Svea Lutheran Church, serving as choir director, and on the church council and cemetery association. Over the years he was active in community service such as Hartland Town Board, Pierce Pepin Electric, Dairyland Power, Regions Health, and Hager City Telecom Board. He was also an active member of American Legion Post 204. He loved singing and was active over the years in the Red Wing Singers and other musical groups, as well as being sought out to sing for weddings and funerals. He enjoyed reading,bird watching, and spending time with his family. He was a skilled maker of Ostkaka. He is survived by his children Mark (Shelby) Holdorf, Woodbury, Minn., Lori (Terry) O’Keefe, White Bear Lake, Minn., Tom Holdorf, Ellsworth, Wis., and Mary (Bruce) Tessness, Hastings, Minn., 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brothers, Henry and Charles.Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, Wis., is serving the family.
