Edward Olson

d. February 21, 2019

Edward Olson, age 69, of Hudson, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019. Ed was born on August 22, 1949 in Eau Claire, WI to Edward and Betty (Hub) Olson and grew up in Frederic, WI on Round Lake. He attended The University of Eau Claire and graduated with a degree in finance. He found his life long career with Excel Energy as a systems analyst.

Ed was a generous and kindhearted man who loved to get family and friends together. He enjoyed hosting Christmas parties with coworkers and never turned down a cup of coffee with friends. He was creative with furniture design and taught himself how to refurbish and reupholster aged furniture. Traveling was something he relished in; one of his favorite places to go was Hawaii. He also loved gardening and reading, but what was closest to Ed’s heart was his family. Cooking for them, spending time with them, and taking his grandchildren to the State Fair every year was what was important to him.

He will remain in the hearts of his children Jason (Chris) Olson, Josh (Danielle) Olson, and Jamie Olson; grandchildren Summer (Tom) Griffin, Taylor Olson, Kya Olson, Eli Olson and great-granddaughter Autumn Griffin; siblings Terri (Russ) Stone and Sherri (Russ) Larsen; niece Emily Stone and nephews Jacob (Jenny) Stone and Matt Stone, as well as many other extended family members and friends. His parents precede him in death.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ed will be on Monday, March 4th, 2019 at 7:00pm, at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7pm before the service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family.
