Edwin D. Dintemann, age 76, passed away July 31, 2022 at River Falls Area Hospital with his loving family by his side. Ed was born January 13, 1946 to Helmuth and Nina (Hall) Dintemann in Madison, Wisconsin.

Ed is survived by his four children; Dawn (Erik Grinde) Dintemann, Michelle (Chris) Young, Tamara (David) Johnson and David (Cheryl) Dintemann; their mother, Beverly Falk; grandchildren, Briana (Andrew), Ali (Jack), Ben, Riley, Cami, Hattie, Nina, and Edgar; sister Patricia and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Ronald Dintemann.

Ed was an avid sports fan, camper, card player, and active community member. His kids fondly remember many stories. He could hold his breath for what seemed like an eternity while everyone waited for his underwater attack, then going back under and counting to three in order to launch a kid off of his shoulders for dives and back flips into the lake. Badger football weekends always found him in section DD cheering the team through Rose Bowl championships as well as no-bowl seasons. Many summer nights were spent watching him pitch “the dark one” during church softball league games. The image of the t-shirt turban wrapped around his head while cooking over the campfire is emblazoned in memory much like the fires he built for all to enjoy. All the kids learned to count from playing cribbage with him; he always had a deck of cards. As a certified public accountant, Ed was connected to the business community and countless clients. His involvement with Kiwanis included River Falls Days stints in the dunk tank. A major part of his community and family life was dedicated to staying sober and helping others battle their own addictions. Every possible Wednesday night he attended AA meetings and served as treasurer of Alano Club. His family and friends will miss his quiet strength, calming presence, and sarcastic humor.

A memorial service will be at 5:00pm Sunday, August 7, 2022, at O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services: 225 S. Third St. River Falls, WI 54022. A visitation will be from 3:00pm until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to River Falls Alano Club, c/o 216 N Main St, River Falls.

Services are entrusted to O’Connell Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services of River Falls, www.oconnellfuneralhomes.com, 715-425-5644
