Elfrieda Faye Johnson

Elfrieda Faye Johnson, age 84, of Baldwin, WI passed away peacefully, on October 19, 2024, with loved ones at her side. Elfrieda “Fruda,” was born on August 8, 1940, in River Falls, WI, to Conrad and Bertha Schriever. Elfrieda touched the hearts of many with her kind spirit and unwavering love for her family and friends.

When Elfrieda was young, her family moved around several times; ending up in Baldwin, WI. where she graduated in 1958. Right after graduation, she found the love of her life, Kenneth Johnson, they married, raising 6 children (5 sons, 1 daughter) on a small farm in Hudson, WI. The family then moved to Somerset, WI, where they lived for 24 years working on (then) Schottler’s Dairy Farm. Elfrieda spent many years laughing, watching, and spending time with granddaughters Samantha and Wendy at that farm. In 2001, she moved to Hammond, WI and lived with her daughter and 2 grandsons, where she fulfilled her retired days on her daughter’s small ranch. Elfrieda lived out her life at a senior living apartment where she met several new friends.

Elfrieda worked her younger days at A&W and then went on to share her warmth and wisdom as a dedicated cook and waitress at LaBon’s Truck Stop in Hudson, WI for over three decades. Elfrieda loved traveling and often did so with daughter Lisa, and grandsons Ben & Bradley. She recently traveled to Reba’s Place down in Oklahoma, and Wall Drug South Dakota. Elfrieda spent the last 9 years of her life on dialysis, which limited her traveling ability. She was loved by so many, especially her friend of 60 years, Joyce Johnson.

Elfrieda’s legacy of resilience and love will be forever remembered by her surviving family members, including her; sister Mary; children Gary (Rita), Joe (Kim), and Lisa, Ben & Bradley; daughter in-laws Brenda Johnson, Amy Johnson, and Nancee Hurlburt; plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends who were deeply touched by her presence. Elfrieda was preceded in death by her; parents Conrad and Bertha; husband Kenneth; sons Rick, Steve, and Bruce; sisters Lou, Cora, Alice, Glady, and Grace; brother Victor; son in-law Jim; daughter in-law Bonnie

As we prepare to honor Elfrieda’s extraordinary life and enduring spirit, the celebration of her legacy, at a later date, will be a testament to the love and light she shared with all who knew her. Services will be forthcoming, providing a fitting tribute to the remarkable woman whose impact on the world will continue to resonate for generations to come.
