Elinor Ann Derr

A life well lived at 86 years of age. Elinor (McNett) Derr of Hudson, WI passed peacefully surrounded by family on July 21 after complications from pneumonia at the Hudson Hospital. 

Elinor was born in Platteville, WI on April 22, 1931.  She had one sister Mary.  She met the love of her life Douglas Derr. They married on August 10, 1950.  They were blessed with three children Kelly, Susan and Amy. 

Elinor worked in varying capacities which included driving a school bus, selling Fuller Brush products, delivering mail as a rural route carrier and bartending during the years they owned The Dock Bar.  Elinor and Doug enjoyed extensive travels throughout every state in America. During their travels they created many friendships across the United States.

Elinor always spoke her mind, had a great sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to mix it up with people.  Elinor will forever be remembered by her children, Kelly Derr of Hudson, WI, Susan Barnum of Norfolk, VA and Amy Derr (John Rodeffer) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Amanda Kraus (Steven) of Hudson, WI and Michael Derr of Denver, CO; great granddaughters, Ayla & McKenna of Hudson, WI; and sister, Mary Moody of Bloomington, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Derr; and her parents, Leona and Halsey McNett.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, August 17 at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson.  Private interment will take place at Willow River Cemetery in Hudson.  Memorials are preferred to Pine Ridge Assisted Living where Elinor enjoyed her last years.
