Elsie Carmella Mulvaney, age 97, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, July 16, 2010 at the Christian Community Home. She had been a resident of Pine Ridge.
She was born the daughter of Eugene and Caroline (Ranallo) Richie in North Hudson. A strong Italian woman, she carried on many cultural traditions in her cooking. Elsie was known for her wonderful Italian cooking; she had a private catering business and was one of the original cooks for PepperFest.
On October 7, 1933 she was united in marriage to William Mulvaney at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. They had an infant daughter who passed away at birth. William also preceded her in death in 1975.
Elsie is survived by her brother, Louie Richie of North Hudson; two sisters, Mary Marino of Minneapolis and Margaret Buttke of North Hudson; many nieces, nephews, and their families, especially Kathy Windolff. Elsie’s generous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Visitation for one hour prior. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
