Emory “Butch” Jenkins passed away on January 9, 2021 from a medical complication while doing one of the things he loved most, hunting. Butch was born on March 1, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to parents Emory and Dona (Brady) Jenkins. He graduated from Mt. Airy High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served our country. He married Violet Jasper on January 28, 1963 and together they were blessed with two sons, Ron and Rich. Butch worked as a store manager for Super America for 27 years before his retirement.
Butch loved the outdoors and he passed on his love for the outdoors by taking his family camping in his younger years. A favorite camping destination was in Montana because he loved being in the mountains. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also had a bit of a green thumb, he looked forward to planting in his vegetable garden every spring. While inside, he would often be reading one of his favorite western novels and cheering on his favorite sports team, and being the sole Vikings fan in a house full of Packer fans made for very lively game days.
He will be missed dearly by his wife Violet; sons Ron (Kathy) and Rich (Wendy); grandchildren Kaylyn, Kassidy, Alex (Sara), Bobby, and Billy; great grandchildren Beau and Alexis. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private family service will be held. Memorials may be directed to the family and sent to the funeral home at: O’Connell Funeral Home, Care of Emory Jenkins, 520 11th Street S, Hudson, 54016, to be forwarded on your behalf. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Homes.
