Esther Rosella Grand, age 94 of Baldwin WI, died on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Park View Care Center in Woodville.  Esther was born November 24, 1921 in Little Fork, Minnesota to parents Anton and Hilda (Grimley) Housker. She grew up and attended school in Roseau, MN. Esther met the love of her life, Floyd, when he gave her a ride home from swimming, and then three years later at a barn dance. The two were united in marriage on January 1, 1938 in Roseau, and their union would be blessed with two daughters, Barbara and Kaaren. Esther raised her daughters before getting work cleaning and painting in homes, and helping at Floyd’s sister’s grocery store outside of Roseau. Her longest employment was for Montgomery Ward in St. Paul, MN where she was employed for 28 years.

In retirement, Esther and Floyd moved to Cambridge, MN. They loved traveling with their trailer and spending the winters in Florida, along the east coast, or in the southern states. Esther moved to Baldwin in 1998 after Floyd passed away. Esther loved spending time with her family and found relaxation in listening to music, reading and doing word search puzzles.

Esther will remain in the hearts of her daughters, Barbara (Roger) Thompson, and Kaaren (David) Lamusga; grandchildren, Julie (Randy) DeRoche, Keith Thompson, Tammy (Todd) DeGraw, Lori (Marty) De Vine, Rebecca Guyette, Theresa Hunt, Jennifer (Robert) Hartman, Daniel Thompson, Allison (Jose) Lozano; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sidona Flum; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents, Anton and Hilda Housker; step fathers, Delos Wilcox and Ernest Swenson; siblings, Alma (Jack) Vacura, and Donald Wilcox; brother-in-law, Mel Flum; and infant great grandson, Kim Joe DeRoche.

A Memorial Service for Esther will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1350 Florence Street in Baldwin, with Pastor David Wall officiating.
